Was uploading the mp3 player of my daughter (10 years old). She wanted the new cd of One direction on her mp3 player. When I was ready she said: I want Death of a Rude Boy too. When I aksed her for more Madness songs, she said No. Only DOARB. She likes that one. She doesn`t like My Girl 2 and Never knew your name. 10 years old and her own taste of music.

Interesting to read Paul Rodgers' thoughts about the next single - he is obviously in the How Can I Tell You camp as opposed to the Misery one!
I am not mad about HCITY but it sure beats Misery which - I am sorry Chas/Carl - I find most unrevealing and rather too simple to stomach in words and melody.
But Paul seems to think that either could appeal to mainstream and get madness a real hit.
My thinking is how? Never Knew My Name has been played to death as much as it can be with a Madness song and it still didn't make anywhere near enough sales.
How can either of these two do any better? What is great is that the album revived.

Surely, that is the purpose of the single though, to revive the album which INKYN has done brilliantly. No Madness single or any band over the age 40 is going to have massive single success anymore as they don't appeal to the teenagers who are doing most of the bulk of the downloading on a regular basis. Thankfully, I love How Can I Tell You and Misery so I don't care which they chosoe. Just which we still had physical formats to enjoy.

I feel that the downfall of the singles was down to the fact there was no physical release while there is no physical release and no extra tracks no-one is really going to buy something they already have.

How Can I Tell You and Misery are both brilliant candidates for the next single. I feel both have a brilliant summer sound. As soon as I heard Never Knew Your Name, I felt it would suit a winter release as it reminds me of a damp cold winter night out in town. Misery could very well be a fantastic live anthem but I'm not sure if it would get much radio play. How Can I Tell You is more radio friendly, and would be even more so after a quick edit maybe to shorten the slow intro. That's what I think anyway

I completely agree that they would have to amend the intro to How Can I Tell You.
It simply would not work as a single if they kept that intro on the album version.

IMHO Misery should be the next single
