Just come back from the excellent Brighton gig.
My quick (probably biased )review
The band seem to be on fire at the moment, and it really was a great show.
The sound at Brighton was perfect.
The lighting was great.
Superb stage setting.
Capacity crowd...what more could a madness fan want.
I heard the last three of the support act..'man like me' they seemed really good. Not my stuff personally, but a good well deserved reception.
Madness came on stage around 9.05pm..
(Might be a little wrong order!!..hopefully have not missed any)
Big red curtain opens to show the band all on stage..
One step beyond
Embarrassment
The prince
Lovestruck
My girl
My girl 2
How can i tell you
Grey day
I never knew your name
Shut up
The sun and the rain
Misery
Wings of a dove
Kitchen floor
Bed and breakfast man
Michael Caine (brilliant)
Kitchen floor
Showtime---Chris singing some heavy metal (dreadful but funny)
House of fun
Baggy trousers
Our house
It must be love
Death of a rudeboy
Madness
Night boat
It was a brilliant performance..-about 90 minutes (although sadly did not hear the amazing johny the horse with Carls intro.) or Leon...and NW5 which always goes down well was not in the mix....but with so many songs, they just cant all be!!
Suggs introduced I never knew your name as the next single???
Lee was on fire, and the whole band just seemed to love it.
The crowd were buzzing throughout, and listening to comments afterwards...it was all positive..
To hear Michael Caine live was a first for me since the mad not mad tour of 1985(yikes)...very good version tonight...Carl was able to keep his voice.
Grey day made it back, as did lovestruck.
If you get chance to see the tour, take it. You will not be disapointed...the set list has been rejigged for this year..
It was a party...a propper propper propper p p party..
Ten out of ten.
Jim
Quick tip...if you want one of the signed cd's you need to be v v early....gutted that i missed out
