Tough, I've gone for the new record, it's so refreshingly brilliant.

It's tough. I genuinely look all of them although The Madness, Wonderful and the Dangerman Sessions are slightly weaker than the rest IMO. Love Rise & Fall, Absolutely equally so hard to chose between the 2.

Rise and Fall is a top record but Absolutely is a better record, if you did a best of based on those two records it would be awesome even if you excluded singles!

No question for me Folgate nails it every time - especially when you consider the full double CD box set version that has some absolute gems on it (One Fine Day being a case in point, Mission From Hell being another, and that's before I even mention Hunchback Of Torriano!! For what it's worth my Top 10 would look something like this: 1 - Folgate 2 - One Step Beyond 3 - Rise & Fall 4 - Absolutely 5 - Keep Moving 7= Seven 7= Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da (or "Oui Si Ja Da squared" as I've seen it called!!) 8 - Mad Not Mad 9 - Wonderful 10 - Dangermen Sessions

The liberty of norton folgate for me a true masterpiece imho . The others are great obviously although many have the odd what i would call weaker song .Folgate every song for me was really strong and deserving of it's place on the album and indeed the songs left off the main album but on the box set were equaly strong.

For me O S B has been one of the best debut albums from any band in the last 30 years.. Liberty showed us what a Great band MADNESS have matured into over the last 3 decades. The new album is also excellent with some great lyrics & melodies.. the band are at the top of their game.

The Liberty of Norton Folgate.
This is for many reasons i.e. the wait, the double album, the whole advertising campaign, the shows, the buzz! Jings, just everything about it really.
I'm having a wee think about my choices for the running order of the remaining albums.

Tough one but I went with my usual choice of Absolutely. It really shows the many of sides of the band even though it's such an early one. Very mature and accomplished.
Folgate is great but I still feel like I need a few years more with it before I would be happy to give it the nod over Absolutely. I remember really loving Wonderful when it first came out, but I've cooled towards it slightly, which is why I don't feel ready to judge/place Oui Oui... just yet.
Si si?

1) The Liberty of Norton Folgate 2) Wonderful 3) Once Step Beyond... 4) Keep Moving 5) 7 6) Oui, Oui, Si, Si, Ja, Ja, Da, Da, 7) Absolutely 8) Rise and Fall 9) Mad Not Mad 10) The Dangermen Sessions Vol. 1
If 'The Madness' is to be counted, I'd place it round about the 7/8 mark...

The Dug

I adore Absolutely, my mum bought it for me, not cool I know, I loved it and wore the lp out quite literally. Not home today, disappear, you said, in the rain, shadow of fear, close escape, overdone - I'm not trying to remember the tracks on the album but list the ones that are so good I never tire of them, ERNIE, wow. Weren't they just so impossibly fan bloody tastic. And then you had Embarrassment, no finer pop song has ever been written, remember the video with our man sat at the bar and Thommo looking like the dogs dangly bits playing the sax in the dry ice. If they'd have put school subject topics to Madness tunes I'd be a fuckin rocket scientist. I sat my o' level history exam and could only write answers on 3 topics so for the 4th I wrote the lyrics for Baggy Trousers and Embarrassment in full under a few lines of total bollocks about the outbreak of WW1.
