Finding a Madness album here in my hometown has been extremeley hard.
One day 5 years ago, soon after getting into Madness, I found a copy of Divine Madness in a local record shop but I didn't buy it because I tought it was pointless as I alredy had the same songs on mp3.
It was only years later that I realised of my big mistake and last year, when I started buying original albums again, I started searching
for Madness albums in every record shop without success (many times, when asknig to sales assistants about the band, they used to say "Who?").
But last Thursday things changed. That day, I walked into a shop and asked the assistant about the band and he said: "Yeah, Madness, cool band, I used to dance to their music when I was younger", but he said he was afraid they didin't have any of the albums. So, I headed to another shop, where I found a copy of the 30 aniversary edition of One Step Beyond... Without hesitating I bought it as it had a second CD with bonus tracks. It costed me $27.
Yesterday, I first heard the second CD, and I tought it was brlliant. It's very hard to choose one, but my favourite songs in it are the ones recorded for the John Peel Show and the ones from Dance Craze.
Then I heard the original album and realised how good it is (altough it's not my favourite one, that being "7"). My favourite songs in it are the singles, plus In The Middle Of The Night, Bed And Breakfast Man and Swan Lake.
I think it was a great purchase. It was worth every penny.
Now, I have to call and independent seller who said to me the other day that he might have a Madness album for sale. Fingers crossed.
