I don't hate Iron Shirt but do agree that I get a tad fed up with them leaving it in the set list. Would rather hear a Madness original. I don't think there is any Madness song I actually hate as that's a pretty strong word but not mad on Nutty Theme (b-side to One Step Beyond).

Hate is too strong. I'm gonna get blasted for this but I found a couple of tracks off LONF hard work.
I know people love That Close and lyrically I really get it but it doesn't make me want to play it. We Are London sounds a bit dreary. That said I love Africa so what do I know!
Sorry does my head in. It also charted which is bonkers.
Not that I don't like it but never understood why 4am made it onto Wonderful when the song of the same name didn't. 4am was on the Lone Ranger and not sure it deserved a rerun. They did some ace stuff for that album, never understood why only 11 tracks.

I hated That Close originally....really like it now. Africa is great...never felt it fitted on LONF but likewise, what do i know...hunchback or the brilliant idiot child are far better.. Nutty Theme, for me is of its time...be nice to hear it live, but again not sure it would fit...never ever play it.

Glad there is some love for Africa. An underrated tune that is pretty mellow and reflective but something Madness do so well. I know many dislike Sorry. Not my favourite but have definitely grown to like it for what it is.

what's the worst Madness record? hrmmmm well, I know that, when I was at school, 'Driving In My f***ing Car' was the moment when being a Madness fan stopped being even remotely cool. Even though they flung it out as an act of defiance after the success of House of Fun, and followed it immediately with the awesomeness of The Rise and Fall, that one bloody song can, I think, be held responsible for a lot of the 'comedy band' stick they received.

Yes, Driving In My Car has a lot to answer for. Of all the single releases, I always felt Sweetest Girl was a bit of a shocker. And it's not dated well.

Ah, Mr Dankdonk...ye made it!
Sorry.......should it be Sorry as worst single, although Driving in My Car has equal share in not being 'the best'!!!

Agree about Driving in my car,it has to be the worst record they ever released.Although Uncle Sam pushes it close, was never a fan of that either.

I CAN'T SAY MADNESS HAVE MADE A BAD RECORD.I THINK DRIVING IN MY CAR SUMS UP MADNESS A CRAZY & MAD SONG ENTERTAINING SIMPLE AS THAT. WHAT I WILL SAY IS THEY SHOULD NEVER HAVE RECORDED SWEETEST GIRL & RELEASED IT AS A SINGLE. THERE WERE MUCH BETTER TRACKS ON MAD NOT MAD.TEARS YOU CAN'T HIDE,BURNING THE BOATS & COLDEST DAY

I Agree that sweetest Girl should not have been a single release and i often wonder what would have happened if they had released Listen to your father instead of giving it to Feargal Sharkey coz its a great song in the true style of Madness and im sure it would at least have entered the top 20

Sweetest bloody girl, way worse and dreary than driving in my car but it did burst the cool balloon.

*nods brief and "pleased to see you again chaps" type hellos in the direction of the Donkster and the Dugster*
Hate is definitely too strong a word - but DIMC is definitely one that makes me cringe these days and has done for a long time - went through a phase of not minding it "live" (as it did take on another life when played at a gig for a while) but now avoid it at all costs when I can.
I'm with others when it comes to Iron Shirt - don't hate it, but do think it's overstayed it's welcome in the live set.
Another I'm not keen on (and usually get strung up for mentioning not liking it!!) is You're Wonderful - seems to have an almost cult like following with fans....but does nothing for me really....again don't hate it but can think of many better.
Last but not least the awfulness of Hall Of The Mountain King which as a studio track I think sounds like something knocked together for a cheap video game back in the late 80's/early 90's....now to be fair and as a bit of a contradiction, I do think it may work well as a live track in the Swan Lake/Tarzans Nuts slot in the set (The Suggs & Smash Fag Break as I like to think of it!!)....but the studio version just leaves me cold and is far from the "new Swan Lake" as was suggested by some when it was released...

Ah Mr Yates, a pleasure to meet again. It's been too long, too long.
I sent Mr Dankdonk a text regarding this very forum and also meant to share a wee link on the Facebook thingymajig.......but I forgot.
Looks like the old gang are re-converging and plotting and planning once again!
