You see.....5 minutes this place has been going and you're saying what I meant to say in far fewer words already Donkster!! Which is probably why you do what you do for a living and I don't!!

How can i tell you is a gem of a song, up there with the best of anything that Madness have recorded.. however, i think the band should concentrate on promoting the album more. In Ireland, the album went in at No.25 last week with NO advertising or promotion, this week it,s gone out of the Top 40, which is a pity. Hopefully, with the lads playing here next week, they will shift a lot more copies and climb up the album charts!!

I voted for misery catchy song and would have good radio appeal if it got the airplay. Although i can completely understand where Graham is coming from particuley in relation more recent second single reelases. But if they do misery would be my choise .

Read somewhere (probably here) that the band were filming in Trafalgar Square on Friday or Saturday as part of a promotional thing for next single Never Knew Your Name....

... it should be a keeper for the live set... Not only How Can I Tell You. Also Misery and La Luna perfectly fit in a live set. BTW, I voted for So Alive.

'How I Can I Tell You.'
Because it starts somewhat oddly in my opinion. Dare I say that I nearly feel like hitting 'skip' for the first few seconds!!!
But no. Wait and listen.......cos it gets grrrrreeeaaaattttttt!
I did toy with 'Misery', but I feel that's too obvious a choice.
Sunnyside,
The Dug

Never Knew Your Name is the one for me. I think Small World is a real gem an a potential outsider.

Well sales are slow and it's dropped to 87 on Amazon. Lets hope the tour helps to spread the word and it shifts many more.
I want the album to do well because it is worthy of success. I also worry they might throw the towel in if it flops.
I'm giving them as Christmas presents!

Can't see them throwing the towel in just because of poor album sales to be honest - most interviews I've seen with them in recent years they still love getting up on stage and performing and as long as that keeps happening can see them keeping on

You are probably right. I think they'd have to do a tour with Mark back in the band at the very least. Chas commented on FB that they feel the band are at their very best just now. If tickets continue to sell they'll keep going.

It's also where the money is these days...not that I think the band have ever taken advantage in that way....but they do all have mortgages to pay, mouths to feed etc etc

Brilliant Yer right Prende......mebbe we're getting impatient in our old age and just want a song to jump out at us straight away! I feel that the latest album has a few songs like that, not immediately grabbing me (not in a bad way, just a wee bit different than I'm used to with Madness), but definitely worth the wait. It well surpasses my '50% album test' that I use as a rule of thumb... Sunnyside, The Dug

It's looking Like Never Knew Your Name.
The trafalgar event was for filming that for a 2013 tv show on the BBC. Britains Brightest.
And it was a French Radio single.
